Quick Answers

What Hunters Ask Most

What makes H&H Outfitters different from other Argentina dove hunting outfitters?

H&H Outfitters is the only outfitter in Córdoba that owns or controls over 20,000 acres of prime roosting land. We've been operating for 35 years, our Guayascate Lodge holds the Beretta Three Trident rating — the only lodge in South America with that distinction — and we rotate our fields using no-till methods so you get consistent, high-volume shooting 365 days a year.

How many shells will I shoot per day dove hunting in Argentina?

Most guests at H&H shoot between 1,000 and 4,000 rounds per day depending on skill level and preference. We supply premium ammunition (RD and Active brand, 7.5 shot) and each hunter gets a dedicated bird boy who keeps shells loaded, retrieves downed birds, and keeps drinks cold all day.

What's the best time of year for dove hunting in Córdoba, Argentina?

March through August is peak season — the post-harvest fields concentrate millions of doves and the weather is mild. Unlike most hunting destinations, H&H holds consistent dove populations year-round: our 20,000+ acres include permanent roosting areas that hold birds even outside harvest season, so no matter when you visit you're guaranteed shooting. September through November offers smaller groups and a more exclusive experience, while December through February is perfect for combining hunting with a summer family vacation.

Do I need to bring my own shotgun to hunt in Argentina?

Not at all. H&H provides over 200 premium shotguns — Benelli Montefeltro and Beretta Silver Pigeon models in 20 and 28 gauge. Gun cleaning service is included at the end of each day. If you prefer to bring your own, we handle all the import paperwork and permits in advance so there's zero hassle at customs.

How do I get to the lodges from the airport?

You fly into Córdoba's Ingeniero Taravella Airport (COR), and we pick you up with private transfer — La Porteñita is approximately 50 minutes away, Guayascate around 1 hour. We also own Feeling Air, our charter aviation company with a Cessna Turbo Stationair and Cessna Grand Caravan EX, so you can fly directly from Buenos Aires Ezeiza to the lodge door if you prefer.

What are the three H&H lodges and how are they different?

Guayascate is our flagship — Beretta Three Trident rated, with spa, infinity pool, wine cellar, and capacity for larger groups of up to 20 hunters. La Porteñita is a historic estancia open since 1991 with an intimate, traditional Argentine atmosphere — our original lodge, closest to the airport. Escondido, in western Córdoba, has been a pioneer in pigeon shooting for over 20 years — operated in partnership with the local Badra family, it's the only lodge that combines world-class dove and pigeon hunting in the same trip. All three serve gourmet meals and Argentine wines, with exclusive use for private groups.

Is there a minimum stay or group size at H&H Outfitters?

No minimum. We welcome solo hunters, couples, and groups of any size. Most guests stay 3 to 4 days, but you can book anything from a single day to a full week. Corporate groups, father-son trips, and multi-generational families are all common at our lodges.

What do non-hunting companions do during the day at H&H?

Plenty. At Guayascate there's a spa, infinity pool, jacuzzi, and wine cellar. At La Porteñita guests enjoy horseback riding across the estancia, a private chapel, and the terrace overlooking the valley. At Escondido the Traslasierra landscape is ideal for walks and exploring local villages. Across all three lodges, our staff organizes wine tastings, city tours to Jesús María, and cooking classes. Spouses and families regularly come along and rate the experience just as highly as the hunting itself.

Detailed Questions

Hunting & Shooting

What shells are available?

We have 12, 20, 28, and 410 gauge shotgun shells available. We recommend contacting us with your gun type and gauge preference before your trip to confirm availability. We use RD and Active shells, #7.5 shot.

Am I allowed to bring my own shotgun shells?

No. You are not permitted to bring shotgun shells into Argentina.

What guns are available for rental?

H&H has more than 200 guns for rent: Benelli Montefieltro Semiautomatics and Beretta Silver Pigeon Over & Under, all 20 gauge. We also have some Beretta Over & Under 28 gauge. We provide 2 guns per hunter per day — you shoot with one while your bird boy loads the other. Stock extensions, shorter stocks, and shoulder pads are available on request.

Is it hard to bring my own firearms into Argentina?

Over & Under shotguns do not require a permit. Semi-automatic shotguns require an entry permit obtained in advance from your local Argentine Consulate. The import fee is $140 per gun, paid at the airport. Groups flying directly into Córdoba have H&H handle the registration at no extra cost. Groups transiting through Buenos Aires should budget approximately $500 for licensed paperwork and allow at least 45 minutes at the airport. We need all gun details in advance to prepare paperwork.

How many shotguns can I bring?

You are allowed to bring up to 3 guns per person into Argentina for hunting purposes.

Do you have left-handed shotguns?

We don't carry dedicated left-handed guns, but we can provide Over & Under models, or adapt a left-handed stock if necessary. Please let us know in advance so we can prepare accordingly.

When is the best time to come? (detailed breakdown)

There is no closed season for dove hunting in Córdoba — it's available all year round. 1,000+ doves per day is normal. From late March through July (Argentine autumn/winter), we hunt in sorghum, millet, and sunflower fields — drives range from 5 to 45 minutes. In the afternoons, we move to the roosts for high-volume shooting. From August through February, we hunt in the hills — best for technically demanding high birds. March is a transition month when birds migrate from grain fields to the hills. Shooting hours are 9:00–12:00 AM and 2:30–6:00 PM.

How far is the drive to the hunting fields?

Between 5 and 50 minutes, depending on the lodge and the season. At La Porteñita, fields are just across the road — about a 10-minute drive. Guayascate has fields planted directly around the property. At Escondido in western Córdoba, drives range from 20 to 45 minutes. All transport is in air-conditioned vans with cold refreshments and two-way radios.

Is there a minimum number of days or hunters?

No minimum. You can come alone or with a large group, and stay for a single day or a full week. Most trips are 3 to 4 days. We accommodate you according to your preferences and available dates.

The Lodges

Do you have WiFi and cell phone service at the lodges?

Yes — WiFi, cell phone service, and a US telephone number for calls without charge are available at every lodge. As this is the countryside, there may occasionally be signal disruptions due to weather conditions such as thunderstorms or high winds, but these are rare.

How many hunters can you accommodate? Can I book a private lodge?

Each lodge operates on exclusive use for private groups. La Porteñita accommodates up to 16 hunters across 9 rooms. Guayascate accommodates up to 20 hunters across 10 rooms. Escondido accommodates up to 16 hunters across 8 rooms. Contact us to discuss exclusive use arrangements and availability.

What voltage is the electricity in Argentina?

Argentina uses 220 volts. We recommend bringing your own voltage converter. We do have some adaptors at the lodge, but availability is limited.

What should I wear at the lodge and in the field?

At the lodge, there is no dress code — casual attire is perfectly fine. In the field, we suggest shorts or pants in natural colors, and long or short-sleeved shirts in light green, brown, or camouflage. Gloves and ear protection are strongly recommended.

Planning Your Trip

Do I need a visa to travel to Argentina?

US citizens do not require a visa to enter Argentina. Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your arrival date. Canadian and Australian nationals are required to pay a reciprocity fee. No other special documentation is needed for hunting tourism.

What is the weather like in Córdoba?

Córdoba's climate is mild and dry, with most hunting falling in Argentine autumn and winter (March–August) when temperatures are comfortable for full days in the field. Expect warm afternoons and cool evenings. Rain is uncommon during peak season.

How do I get to Córdoba from the US?

Most hunters from the US connect through Buenos Aires Ezeiza (EZE) and take a domestic flight to Córdoba (COR), or fly via regional hubs including Santiago de Chile, Lima, or São Paulo. H&H also operates Feeling Air, our charter aviation company, with a Cessna Turbo Stationair and Cessna Grand Caravan EX available for direct flights from Buenos Aires to the lodge. Contact us to discuss the best routing for your group.

Who will pick us up at the airport?

Our staff will be waiting at the arrivals area of Córdoba Airport wearing H&H Outfitters shirts and caps. We'll drive you directly to your chosen lodge — or straight to the hunting field if you prefer to start immediately.

How do I confirm a booking?

We ask for a prepayment to guarantee your booking. If you need to cancel with sufficient advance notice for us to rebook the dates, we can apply the payment toward a future booking or issue a refund. Contact us directly to discuss your specific situation.

How can I settle my bill?

H&H currently accepts cash and personal or company checks. Contact us to confirm current payment options available for your booking.

Are tips included?

Tips are not included in your package and should be paid in cash directly to the staff. They are entirely at your discretion. Our team works hard to make every day exceptional — most guests choose to recognize that at the end of their stay.

Questions About Each Lodge

Each H&H lodge is a distinct operation with its own season, setting, and specialties. Here's what hunters ask most about each one.

Flagship · Beretta Three Trident

Guayascate Lodge

What is the Beretta Three Trident certification and why does it matter?

The Beretta Trident rating is the wingshooting industry's most recognized certification for hunting destinations. Three Tridents — the highest level — is awarded to outfitters meeting rigorous standards across hunting quality, lodge comfort, and guest experience. Guayascate is the only lodge in South America to hold this distinction, making it independently verified as a world-class operation at every level.

How many hunters can stay at Guayascate at once?

Guayascate accommodates up to 20 hunters across 10 individually designed rooms — singles and doubles available, configured to your group's needs. The lodge operates on exclusive use: your group has the full 18,000 sq ft property, staff, and hunting operation to yourselves, with no shared facilities with other parties.

What is the dove hunting season at Guayascate?

Argentina's Eared Dove season runs March through August, with peak bird concentrations between April and July. Guayascate draws from over 1,500 private acres on the property and nearly 1,000 square miles of managed territory in Córdoba province. Prime dates fill 6 to 12 months in advance — early booking is strongly recommended.

What amenities does Guayascate offer beyond the hunting?

Guayascate features a full spa, infinity swimming pool, two heated Jacuzzis (indoor and outdoor), a private wine cellar curated around Mendoza Malbec, a gourmet dining room, and multiple outdoor terraces overlooking the Córdoba countryside. The bilingual staff is trained to anticipate every need from arrival to departure.

How does Guayascate compare to Escondido and La Porteñita?

Guayascate is the flagship H&H property — the largest, most amenity-rich, and the only South American lodge with a Beretta Three Trident certification. It's the right choice for hunters who want the absolute peak of lodge luxury alongside world-class dove hunting. Escondido specializes in pigeon hunting (March–August) alongside dove in western Córdoba. La Porteñita is H&H's original lodge (est. 1991), closest to the airport, with the widest dove season window (January–October).

Western Córdoba · Dove & Pigeon

Escondido Lodge

Can I hunt both dove and pigeon at Escondido Lodge?

Yes — Escondido is the only H&H lodge that offers both Eared Dove and pigeon hunting. Dove is available year-round. Pigeon season runs from the last week of March through the first week of August, when migrating birds concentrate in the irrigated fields of western Córdoba.

How does pigeon hunting at Escondido work?

Hunters shoot from field blinds as large migrating pigeons drop onto decoys set up by your personal bird boy. It's a technically distinct experience from dove — more deliberate, with larger birds and a daily limit of 200 pigeons per hunter. The Badra family has operated pigeon hunting in this territory for over 20 years.

How far is Escondido Lodge from Córdoba Airport?

Approximately 2 hours 45 minutes by ground via the Altas Cumbres mountain route, or about 30 minutes via the H&H Grand Caravan private charter from Córdoba Airport. Villa Dolores Airport is also available for domestic or private flights, with a 30-minute ground transfer to the lodge.

How many hunters can stay at Escondido at once?

Escondido accommodates up to 16 hunters across 8 spacious rooms with private bathrooms. The lodge is reserved exclusively for one group at a time — your party has the full property, staff, and hunting operation to yourselves.

What makes the hunting territory at Escondido unique?

Escondido sits in the largest irrigated agricultural zone in Argentina — thousands of acres of peanut, soybean, and corn fields that serve as a major food source for migrating pigeons and resident doves. These fields see significantly less hunting pressure than the areas east of the Sierras, ensuring consistent bird concentrations throughout the season.

How does Escondido differ from Guayascate and La Porteñita?

Escondido is the only H&H lodge specializing in pigeon hunting alongside dove, built on the 20-year expertise of the Badra family in western Córdoba. Guayascate is the flagship property with Beretta Three Trident certification and the most extensive amenities. La Porteñita is H&H's original lodge (est. 1991), closest to the airport, with the widest year-round dove season.

Established 1991 · Closest to Airport

La Porteñita Lodge

Is La Porteñita a good choice for first-time Argentina dove hunters?

Yes — La Porteñita is widely considered the ideal first-time lodge in the H&H portfolio. It's the closest property to Córdoba Airport (50 minutes), operates a January–October dove season, and has the longest track record of any H&H lodge, open since 1991. The all-inclusive structure and fully managed logistics mean first-timers can focus entirely on the experience.

How far is La Porteñita from Córdoba Airport?

Approximately 50 minutes from Córdoba International Airport (Ingeniero Aeronáutico Ambrosio L. V. Taravella, COR) by ground transfer on paved road. It is the closest H&H lodge to the airport. An H&H representative meets your group at arrivals and handles the complete transfer.

What months can I dove hunt at La Porteñita?

La Porteñita offers excellent dove shooting from January through October — the widest seasonal window of any H&H lodge. Peak months are March through August. H&H plants crops exclusively for doves using no-till methods and rotates fields throughout the season, maintaining quality well outside the traditional peak period.

How many hunters can stay at La Porteñita at once?

Up to 16 hunters across 9 rooms — 6 in the main colonial house and 3 in a separate private villa. The lodge is reserved exclusively for one group at a time. No shared spaces with other parties.

What is included in the all-inclusive package at La Porteñita?

Accommodation, all meals (breakfast, in-field asado lunch, and gourmet dinner), wines and spirits, shells and ammunition, a dedicated bird boy per hunter, field transportation in air-conditioned luxury vans, laundry service, boot cleaning, and all gratuities. Airport transfers are coordinated by the H&H team. Optional massage service available at additional cost.

What makes La Porteñita different from Guayascate and Escondido?

La Porteñita is H&H's original lodge — with the deepest history, the strongest record of returning guests, and the widest dove season window (January–October). Its setting within a working Argentine estancia built in 1930 gives it a character no newer build can replicate. Guayascate is the flagship property with Beretta Three Trident certification and the most extensive amenities. Escondido specializes in pigeon hunting alongside dove, in a western Córdoba territory known for lower field pressure and 20 years of Badra family expertise.
