How to Prepare for Your First Argentina Hunting Trip

Blog / Hunter resources / How to Prepare for Your First Argentina Hunting Trip

Planning your Argentina hunting trip is easier when you know what to expect. From choosing the ideal season to packing the right gear, every detail helps turn good memories into great ones.

The Ideal Time to Hunt in Argentina

Argentina offers world-class wingshooting year-round, yet February through October is prime time for dove hunting in Córdoba. Crops are mature, flight lines are predictable and the sheer volume of birds keeps the action fast-paced.

Lightweight, breathable clothing in neutral tones will help you blend into the landscape. A shooting vest with deep shell pockets, protective eyewear and thin gloves improve comfort and efficiency. Add waterproof boots with good ankle support for uneven terrain, plus ear protection if you plan on high-volume shooting.

Firearms & Licensing for Your Argentina Hunting Trip

Bringing your own shotgun to Argentina is straightforward — here’s what you need to know:

  • Over & Under shotguns: No permit required to bring them into Argentina.
  • Semi-automatic shotguns: You must obtain a gun entry permit from your local Argentine Consulate before traveling.
  • Airport fee: $140 per gun, paid at the airport upon arrival.
  • Flying through Buenos Aires (EZE): The paperwork requires a licensed person — total cost is $500 per gun (entry + exit). Allow at least 45 minutes at the airport for registration.
  • Flying direct to Córdoba (COR): H&H handles all the paperwork at no extra cost.
  • Ammunition: You cannot bring your own shells into Argentina. H&H provides RD and Active shells, number 7.5 shot, in 12, 20, 28 and 410 gauge.
  • How many guns can I bring? Up to 3 guns per person for hunting purposes.

Not sure about your specific situation? Contact H&H before your trip and we’ll guide you through the process.
