Simple, Rustic, and Irresistible

There’s nothing quite like the aroma of freshly baked bread filling the air—especially when you’re deep in the Argentine countryside. Whether you’re cooking at the lodge or at home, this traditional bread recipe brings rustic simplicity to your table.

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, mix water, salt, and fresh yeast until completely
    dissolved.
  2. Gradually add the flour, followed by the melted fat.
  3. Knead the dough for about 5 minutes until it’s smooth and elastic.
  4. Let the dough rest for 15 minutes.
  5. Divide it into small portions—rounds, ovals, or rustic shapes.
  6. Allow each piece to rise until doubled in size.
  7. Bake at 180°C (350°F) for about 15 minutes or until golden brown.

Ingredients

  • 4 cups of flour (0000 for extra softness)
  • 1 cup of melted fat (beef fat is traditional, but
    butter works too)
  • 2 cups of water
  • 2 tablespoons of salt
  • 2 tablespoons of fresh yeast
