Our Gamebird

The Eared Dove —
Argentina's Most Abundant Game Bird

  • 32 Million+ Birds
  • Year-Round Season
  • No Bag Limit
  • Flies All Day

The Eared Dove is Córdoba's signature game bird, the reason hunters travel from across the US for shooting unlike anything at home. A government study puts the local population at 32+ million birds. That's the baseline, not the ceiling.

Similar to the North American Mourning Dove, the Eared Dove has one key difference: it flies all day long. Where most upland birds give you a narrow window, Córdoba gives continuous action from morning to late afternoon. 1,000 birds in a day isn't unusual, and 2 to 4 cases of shells per hunter is standard.

Year-Round, No Bag Limit

Argentina Dove Shooting Season —
Any Month, Any Size Group

There's no closed season for Eared Dove hunting in Córdoba: birds present year-round, no bag limit, fields active every month. The only question is which season fits your schedule and style.

A Typical Shooting Day with H&H Outfitters

After breakfast at the lodge, the group departs for the fields, 5 to 50 minutes away depending on lodge and season, in air-conditioned vans with cold drinks and two-way radios.

How the Day Works →
9:00 AM – Noon

Morning Session

Each hunter gets their own bird boy for the full day, handling shells, loading under H&H's two-gun system, retrieving downed birds, and keeping cold drinks within reach.

Noon

The Argentine Asado — Lunch in the Field

The group gathers in a shady grove for a traditional Argentine asado: grilled meats, fresh salads, gourmet desserts, Argentina's finest wines, fields visible around you. Guests mention it as often as the shooting.

2:30 PM – 6:00 PM

Afternoon Session

The afternoon often moves to the natural roost sites, where thousands of birds move in continuous waves overhead, typically the highest-volume shooting of the day. Sessions run until around 6 PM.

The Two-Gun System — Non-Stop Shooting, Zero Downtime

H&H's two-gun rotation system eliminates reloading downtime entirely: you shoot one gun while your bird boy loads the second, so a loaded gun is always in your hands. It's the difference between shooting and watching.

Your bird boy stays with you all day, managing both guns, keeping you stocked with shells, retrieving birds, and keeping drinks cold. At Córdoba's volume, this isn't a luxury. It's what makes it work.
